Intellectual property
The PaperDiff name, interface and copy belong to the publisher. The source code is not currently published; if that changes, this notice will say where and under which licence. Third-party software and fonts served by these pages are listed, with their licences, on the licences page.
The documents you compare remain yours. PaperDiff claims no right over them, and never receives them: they are read inside your browser and are never transmitted. See the privacy page.
The example documents are not a contract
The two sample documents offered on the home page are invented boilerplate, written for the purpose of demonstrating the comparison. They are not an agreement, not a template, and not drafting that anybody should adapt or rely on. The company named in them does not exist. Nothing on this site is legal advice, and a comparison of two documents is a report about their text and not an opinion about their effect.
What the tool does, and what it cannot be relied on for
PaperDiff reads the two files you give it and reports the differences in their text. It never modifies, moves or deletes either file: it opens them for reading and writes nothing back. The only files it produces are the ones you ask for (a CSV download, a clipboard copy, a print), and those are created on your own machine.
It compares text, and only text that can be extracted. It does not compare images, signatures, formatting, comments, footnotes, embedded objects or the content of scanned pages, and it refuses a document with no text layer rather than reporting it as unchanged. Where some pages of a PDF carry no text, the number skipped is shown. A comparison is a reading aid; it is not a substitute for reading a document you are about to be bound by, and it must not be used as the sole check on one.
Warranty
PaperDiff is provided free of charge, as is, and without any warranty that it will be uninterrupted or free of defects. Nothing here excludes a liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, and nothing here limits the rights French law gives you as a consumer.
Reporting a security issue
Please write to damienyvert.dev@gmail.com. The same address is published in security.txt. Reports are welcome and read. A malformed document that crashes the parser is a perfectly good report and does not need to be the real file.
Applicable law
This notice and the use of the site are governed by French law. Nothing sold here and no contract is formed by using the tool; should that ever change, this page and a set of terms will say so before it does.
See also the privacy page for what the site does and does not collect.
